CPU preview

The preview is an analytical model for machines without Sionna RT or a GPU. It computes free-space path loss with directional antenna penalties and a building obstruction penalty on a planar grid, and returns the same arrays as a Sionna RT solve.

• Available in every installation; the explorer selects it by default.

• Terrain is displayed and exported as context, but propagation stays planar. Results carry the warning that the preview is not a calibrated ray-tracing result.

• The preview grid is limited to 20,000 receiver cells, against 2,250,000 for Sionna RT, because it runs synchronously on the CPU.

• Path gain, received power and SINR share the same units and layout as Sionna outputs, with a 1 MHz noise bandwidth at 293 K recorded in the result metadata.

Use it to check transmitter placement, scene extent and the export pipeline before spending GPU time. Dataset cases generated with the preview are labelled analytical in their metadata and stay distinct from ray-traced cases.
